Today is my last day of my first job after college

I came to AC Lion in August, learned a ridiculous amount, and ended up unexpectedly getting offered a dream job at another company. I'm excited to continue my career, but very sad to say goodbye to all of the awesome people at this company that invested in me right out of school.

Last year, I followed five seniors in college to see what their job search was like. As a follow-up to that, here's what I learned in my first major full-time job. Enjoy!

1. Give yourself time to adjust to the new schedule

I had come from college - the land of endless slumber and pizza. It took some time, but eventually my body adjusted to waking up very early.

2. Relax, Relax, Chill Out, Relax

Anxiety over appearing as professional is normal and healthy, but no one is going to get angry with you for leaving your desk for 15 minutes to grab a Coke or call your mom. More than that, it's unpleasant to be around someone who is constantly anxious! Breathe.

3. Show your hobbies and talents with pride

I was a researcher, and on paper, the role didn't seem overwhelmingly creative. But once everyone saw how much I love to draw, I was being given artistic tasks left and right. This is something very special about my company, AC Lion. Not everyone is lucky enough to work in a small office that really cherishes it's employees.

4. Trust your boss and become their homie

Relax. Your boss likes you. You already know this because they hired you, so try not to take tasks or communication styles personally. After some time, I found myself really enjoying hanging out with my bosses on a social level and it also helped me see some of their perspective on day-to-day tasks.
